Whether you want an every day ballet flat to run around in, or a statement flat our beautifully feminine cut and low vamp ballet flat is a glamorous alternative to heels. Choose from thousands of design options to create your own individual ballet flat. Upper Street's ballet flats have a 1cm stacked wooden heel and come with a cushioned leather lining and leather sole.
Here is our advice and tips on designing your made-to-order ballet flats in Upper Street’s shoe designer. Follow these 6 easy steps to guide you through each section of your shoe design:
Step 1 - Shoe style: Choose the first thumbnail image and select ballet flat option.
Step 2 - Fronts: Design the front of your ballet flats by choosing from 18 different options to suit your style.
To keep it simple, go for a plain front, add a small bow, or panels for a dainty, yet classic design. For a bolder statement, choose a large flower corsage or the large structured bow. For a playful and contemporary look, choose the heart front and colour each layer separately with different colours and textures. For a touch of glamour, choose the opulent Swarovski jewel cluster.
Tip: If you want to add studs, you must select the toecap option so you can embellish in step 6.
Step 3 - Back: Design the back of your ballet flat by choosing from 5 different options.
Colours and textures can add beautiful contrast to a shoe. Add a counter back to use as a balance for the front of the shoe. A large bow at the back has a pretty accent, which draws the eye. For an individual look try panels or a heart back, and colour each layer separately.
Tip: Click on the image of the shoe and rotate it 360 degrees to get a full view from every angle.
Step 4 - Straps: Choose from 7 strap options as a decorative feature for your ballet flat. Straps can flatter your foot and can help with a more secure fit. If you select the thin strap options you can add glitz with a Swarovski diamante trim, or if you fancy a more glam rock look, the thick ankle strap can be enhanced with studs. Try a contemporary triple strap and style each individually for a unique look.
Tip: Ankle straps can be removed on the finished shoes, but please note, not if you add diamante trim.
Step 5 – Colours & materials: The colour option is organised in 2 ways: ‘Sort by materials’ which shows our extensive range of materials and ‘Sort by colour’ for our rich palette of colours.
First click on the shoe area then choose a colour or material. You will need to colour every part of your shoe, so experiment and have fun with the textures and colours for an individual look. You can follow your progress in the ‘Colouring progress’ palette on the right of the screen.
Tip: Please note that studs can’t be added to animal skin.
Prices differ for our standard materials and our premium materials. Please visit our pricing page for further details. At any point of the colouring process, you will be able to click on the "Costs & materials" button to see the cost for each material and extra embellishments.
Step 6 - Embellishments: In the final stage you can adorn your ballet flats with studs and Swarovski diamante trim.
For studs on the front of the shoe, you must select the toecap option in step 2.
If you selected the strap option in step 4, you must select the thick ankle strap for studs.
To add a Swarovski diamante trim, you must choose the thin ankle strap and Mary Jane straps.
Tip: Remember you can go back to any step at any time to change your design.
